The Carlsbad International Film Festival | CIFF
is a new coastal cinema experience rooted in community, creativity, and the enduring power of film. Based in the heart of Carlsbad Village, CIFF is designed to spotlight compelling stories from around the world while honoring the laid-back spirit and artistic heritage of Southern California.
The festival will take place at the historic Carlsbad Theatre — originally opened in 1927 — which is currently undergoing a full revitalization. This iconic venue will serve as the central hub for screenings, panels, and events. From surf films to indie dramas, CIFF aims to revive the tradition of communal filmgoing and bring a thoughtful, cinematic experience to North County’s creative coastline.
CIFF celebrates diverse filmmakers, emerging voices, and celebrated industry veterans — with a special focus on highlighting the talent that lives and works right here in our own backyard. With Carlsbad’s oceanfront charm, proximity to LA, and creative roots, CIFF offers something truly unique: a boutique film festival that’s intimate, inviting, and rich in culture.
A Note from the Founder
I started CIFF for the same reason I reopened the Carlsbad Theatre — because I love movies. Growing up, film had a huge impact on my life. It’s what led me into photography and acting, and it’s what continues to inspire me. CIFF is my way of giving that experience back to others: sharing the kinds of films that make you feel something, think differently, or connect with someone new.
My hope is that people leave CIFF not just entertained, but moved. That they feel part of the Carlsbad community, and maybe even walk away with a deeper appreciation for the art of film.
